The <ST1:CITY><ST1LACE>Boston</ST1LACE></ST1:CITY> Red Sox travel to <ST1:CITY><ST1LACE>Anaheim</ST1LACE></ST1:CITY> for the short Division Series with the Halos. Up 1st for the Sox will be AL Cy Young runner-up (to Johan Santana) Curt Schilling. The right-hander hasn’t lost a decision since 8/9 spanning 9 games where he’s 8-0 and the Sox are 9-0. He’s 3-0 against the Angels for his career so the possibilities of a 1-0 start to this series are pretty good.<O></O>
Schilling hasn’t been nearly as good on the road as he has at Fenway but he faces Jarrod Washburn in Game 1. The Angels lefty has been nearly the opposite of Schilling as far as not recording a win since 9/4. He’s 0-3 during that span while allowing 3 runs or more in 3 of his last 5 starts. He’s gotten beat up pretty good his last 2 outings (both ND) but his team has backed him up. That won’t happen today.<O></O>
Runs are always at a premium in the post-season and the Sox can score will take everything a pitcher wants to give them. In Game 2 it will be the suddenly touchable Pedro Martinez against John Lackey. The Angels right-hander strung together some decent starts but closed with a bludgeoning at the hands of the Rangers. Pedro has flat-out stunk down the stretch but in a slug-fest, I’ll go with the Sox.<O></O>
Game 3 will pit Bartolo Colon against Bronson Arroyo. <ST1:CITY><ST1LACE>Colon</ST1LACE></ST1:CITY> has been nails for the Angels down the stretch (5-2) but one of those losses was in <ST1:CITY><ST1LACE>Boston</ST1LACE></ST1:CITY> (4+IP, 10 hits 4 runs). Arroyo has a decent 5-0 record since late August over a 9 game span where <ST1:CITY><ST1LACE>Boston</ST1LACE></ST1:CITY> has gone 9-0. Sweep.<O></O>
